About the event

Guru Purnima is a sacred festival honouring spiritual and academic teachers (gurus) who impart wisdom and guidance. Observed on the full moon day in the Hindu month of Ashadha, it holds special significance in Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain traditions. Disciples pay respect to their gurus by offering prayers, performing pujas, and expressing gratitude.

The festival is believed to commemorate the birth of the great sage Ved Vyasa, who composed the Mahabharata. In Buddhism, it is associated with Lord Buddha’s first sermon at Sarnath. Many spiritual seekers use this day to reflect on their guru’s teachings and practice self-discipline.
