Since 2020, The Sivananda Food Bank Project, part of the Soul Search Programme, has been a beacon of hope for disadvantaged families in the Ipoh area, providing essential dry food rations to those in need.
Our Journey: Our impactful initiative began during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, initially supporting 50 families. Today, we extend our help to approximately 15 needy families each month. Through a meticulous screening process, we ensure that our assistance reaches those facing genuine hardships.
Your Contribution Matters: Each monthly food supply costs around RM150, providing each family with a substantial amount of dry goods to sustain them. Nutritious food is vital for alleviating their burden and enhancing their well-being. In some cases, we included baby milk powder for babies and pampers for bedridden patients. Additionally, we organize events to raise funds for these families.
Community Support: When this project started, the cost was solely funded by Premji’s Dhakshana. Over time, soul search students have joined in contributing in any way they can. While the number of families we support has decreased due to the rising cost of food and some families becoming self-sufficient, our commitment remains steadfast. Premji continues this program to honour the teachings of the Gurus to feed the poor, and needy first.

Volunteer with Us
Soul Search is excited to share that we are now ready to accept volunteers for our varied programs held at the Centre and outreach initiatives in Ipoh aimed at supporting the underprivileged. Volunteers will have the opportunity to engage in our diverse classes, provide assistance in maintaining our facilities, and participate in our monthly food distribution endeavors by assisting in the packing and distributing of essential items to those in need.
The principle of Seva in our cultural tradition encourages the development of kindness and understanding towards all beings, highlighting a harmonious relationship with our surroundings rather than simply pursuing personal interests.
